Hey all,

I am the fortunate recipient of a 1960 Bugeye Sprite "project", given to me by my father-in-law. It has been sitting in his garage in California for 20 years. I trailered it to Washington state over the weekend and now she is sitting in my garage, waiting for some attention.

I'm hoping the years of knowledge on this forum will help me get this girl back on the road in the next few years.

Man that looks like a pretty solid start, not to mention pretty complete, stuff like seat frames etc. can hard to source.

Yes, definitely take care of those seat frames.
They are practically unobtainium.
Your new Bugeye looks happy to find a new home, it should be a lot of fun to complete.
One day my Bugeye will find me... :wink:

Well I did have to pay for the transport (my time and a uhaul) to get it up here, but even so, I couldn't sell her. My wife has decided I am building this for her. :smile:
 
Welcome Chris. I have a 1960 Bugeye that I am almost done restoring. My only regret about the forum is that I didn't find it sooner. I feel like I have had over a hundred guys from the forum helping me out in my garage over the past few years. I am restoring my bugeye for my wife, too. Actually a good tactic. I get to drive it, and restoration money seems to come much easier with this plan.

Hi Kevin,

Yes, once my wife saw the car cleaned up a bit (had been covered by boxes in her parent's garage for 20+ years) she immediately fell back in love with it and deemed it HER car. I will of course get to restore it and drive it when I wish. :wink:

Also, she always rolls her eyes when I mention the parts I need to order for my Land Rover, but seems surprisingly interested in the plan for the Bugeye. LOL.

I feel fortunate to have found his forum BEFORE beginning the process. I'm going to need the help!

I don't believe this one was ever lost. Someone would have put it together sooner or later. Wreck Rescue; now that's saved!
 
If anyone is interested I put together a diary of my BE build. It is a word document with pics. Drop me a PM and an email address and I will forward you a copy. It is big about 70 pages and 4M.
