Bugeye Registery

That is cool Jack, I signed in. I noticed you did not fill it in either, but what is the CKD category? Is that like a verification/authentication or something?

It seems there is a lot of politics, badmouthing and xenophobia in some of the posts in there.

I did, Missagatha237 is in there.

Mike, CKD was the code for the knock down kits that were shipped abroad and assembled on site. A lot of them went to Australia.

I believe that it stands for Completely Knocked Down, meaning completely disassembled/unassembled. It was (is?) a way to avoid taxes. Importing cars is highly taxed in some countries. Importing car parts is not.

(It may be that people in Australia are still practicing this by disassembling a car far enough that it qualifies as "parts" before importing it, and then re-assembling it once it is safely beyond the reach of the Customs Service. This is just speculation and perhaps someone in Australia and confirm or deny, but in any case CKD means Completely Knocked Down and it origins have to do with tax avoidance.)

Neat, thanks.
