Wow - there's the bait. Where's the switch? ;-)

Okay, that's not fair. It doesn't bother me much when y'all throw these in my face when they're across the country, this one is close enough to smell. Ouch. I'm working on it.

I guess it all comes down to what rebuilt means...

A. Rebuilt means proper repairs made, owner deserpate for cash, wow-unbelievable value!
B. Rebuilt means copious fiberglass, bondo and pop-rivets holding the structure together with a pretty white top coat to dress 'er up.

If A, I hope someone on this list gets it quick! GO GO GO!!!!

If B, well - buyer beware.

One of the most common scams I see is to advertise a car for way below its real value. Usually, though these come with a hard sell, not the matter-of-fact description in this ad. And, because it's Craigslist, most people will be local and simply go to see it, where they can check the title and tell for sure if its legit.

People grossly overprice these things quite often, probably because they don't know what they're worth. I suppose it's possible they could underprice them for the same reason. It's possible, for example, that the seller has looked at later sprites and doesn't realize that the bugeyes go for quite a bit more.

If it were local, I'd check it out.

I would go look and take my check book and trailer as well.

Or you could save 600 bucks and start with just that $2,900 bonnet on Ebay and bulid from there. Oh wait there"s shipping cost hmmm I guess it 's a toss up :jester:

I don't get the scam part.

A few weeks ago a guy agreed to buy a load of excercise equipment from a craiglist ad. He rented a uhaul, drove up to Detroit (that should have been the first red flag right there) where the "seller" took all his money and locked him in his own uhaul.

If I had the $$ to put towards it I would be there already, not that far from me. I'm trying to talk my dad into buying it. I bet he forgot a 0 in the price. That would be more like a craigslist price. I think many sellers overprice in the hope the seller doesn't know value, any one who does might still ask and "real" negotiations can begin.

I'm sure it it's legit it's gone. I'd buy it just to flip and double my money if I had the time.
