I saw that very car for sale on ebay...look up austin healeys for sale. The stripes on the body are very distinctive! The rear wheel arches on this car are quite oddly shaped and the whole car seems to be quite modified. I think it should sound a little better than it does!

Here's a classic bit of footage that was there with your post!!

Yup, seen that one, it is actually posted elsewhere in the forums here! It is a great piece of film footage worth keeping on file, isn't it? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

I lived in Germany, as a child, from 57 to 59. I remember being told about the Mercedes accident when I asked someone why Mercedes didn't race any more. I've never seen this footage; it's really fascinating, albeit in a disturbing way, to see it at last. I didn't know it existed.

I did get to attend the '58 German Grand Prix though, at the Nuerburgring, which I'll remember forever. Tony Brooks won it. Peter Collins was in a fatal accident; he died later that day, but I don't think we knew of that until we read it in the papers next day. The Brits were really going strong in those days, though; it's no wonder British sports cars generated so much interest in those days.
