More on the bugeye master cylinder. My pistons (plungers) have rubber washers in grooves about a quarter of an inch from the butt ends. I don't see any thing that resembles this on any diagram or picture in repair manuals or parts books. 1.Why do these not show up in references anywhere?
2. Are they replaceable? What part do I use?
3. If not, how do I know they are still good enough to reuse?

They are the seals, that's what goes bad, replace them, the kit should have the seal, a thin washer, and the outer dust cap.

There was one flat washer in the original kit from vic/british. I called them and requested another flat washer. They sent me a new kit and again, one flat washer. Now I do have two flat washers but why wouldn't each kit have two to begin with?

A Bugeye master cylinder kit should include 2 rubber seals, 2 rubber cups, 2 flat washers, and 2 dust cover. There should also be a thick rubber washer OR a plastic thing for the brake bore.
The thick rubber washer goes in the deep end of the brake bore, it is a proportioning valve or something. Later on it was replaced with a plastic thing that snapped over the spring.

Thank you, spritenut. Vic/British is evidently sending kits out minus one of the flat washers since I ordered two kits and they both came with just one in each.
