Good going John. I know I got on the scene too late to be part of the MGB, but you know A-series engine are my first love, so I'll be very disappointed if I'm left out of this project /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
 
And that is a strange list trevor, not sure but don't think I see you there?

I find it required reading. And would hate to miss an installment of Buster and Frank.
 
I used to contribute quite often (check the archives from a few years ago), but I sort of dropped out (though I read it everyday). Do not know why I quit contributing... lazy I guess.
 
Oh, I don't say much but I do know a few of the guys from face to face meetings.

A very intresting group to say the least. But nice folks just like here.

I've already thought about sending you the SU's. I saw where the PO tried to put O rings on the throttle shafts so I assume the need to be rebushed or at a min new shafts.

Originally, my thought was to get it running so I can access the condition of the mechanicals, but since the engine is seized, I'm not sure if I should start with the body work first. I just don't know. I hate to rebuild the hydraulics, then have them sit for a year or two while I do the body. I dunno. (thoughts anyone?)

Whatever direction I take on this restoration (if I don't flip it) will take awhile to get started as I'm between jobs and shouldn't be pouring money into a resto. But yeah, it's fun to dream and plan!
 
For my two cents-worth, I would say, since you have a siezed engine anyway, yank it out and start cleaning up the body/tub (mainly labor, which can be done on a tight budget!), and get it ready for the hydraulics, rebuilt engine, interior, etc. down the line. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
 
Cleaning, derusting, and de-DPO'ing don't take much money John!

So get out there and do all the things that I should be doing instead of giving you guff. LOL.

Mine started out looking like this P1050034.jpg but even though it at first looked like just a floor job and a bit on the back panel, the bulkhead was trash. And the lower plate wasn't worth the time to repair. A new one cost $39. Much less than an hour of my time. The bulkhead was a bit more.

OUCH! That is pretty crispy! I did a complete sill replacemnt on my MGB so I certainly understand that typically once you get in there it is worse than you initally feared! Well, I hope mine isn't too bad! lol!

Nice Land Rovers! I have a Disco that I've fitted out for Trail use. THat's my daily driver.
 
Well I got them both in the garage and the wife can still park on her side. I'm not sure if that will make her any happier! lolol

That's how mine are parked. I've nicked named my Sprite "scooter" because he just scoots around the garage. My daughter calls it "the rusty car".
 
Good name! I went to Harbor Freight to buy some cheap car dollies, and they were $35 for two which wasn't bad, but they had these small mover's dollies for $9.99 ea and it said they would hold upto 100#'s. For $9.99 I don't think I could buy four casters! They seem to work good and I can scoot it all over the garage!

Way to go John! Congrats - I love the bugeyes and am quite jealous!

If your B is any indication as to what awaits the bugeye, she's in good hands.
