bugeye hood question

How difficult a conversion is it to put a bugeye hood on a '76? Do the hinges match? Can you swap in headlights etc? etc?

I have a line on a hood but am not sure.

As far as I know it's a bit of a job, considering the front superstructure. I think you would have to cut a bit of the big-bumper reinforcement off.

Normally one would use a front hinge. I don't think the 1500 hinges will work, but they might.

Headlights are the same. Turn lights are the older style Lucas stuff. Wiring will need a little reworking, but everything's there. Your local laws might require side lights.

This conversion has been done many times before.
 
If you are making the conversion, I would not worry about hinge match-ups, and just make it a "forward hinged" hood like Donn says! Tune-ups and under-hood operations are so much more comfortable/accessible!!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif
 
It can be done without any major fabrication, but it does require a long weekend to get it sorted out.
