Bugeye H1 carbs:heatshield???

Hi Gang,
Had a blast yesterday at the Dixon, CA. show and junkfest.
Wish we had more of these here!

Finally found a set of original pancake filters for the H1
carb setup on my Bugeye project. Does anyone know for
certain if a heatshield was originally used on the Bugeyes
that used H1's? Most Bugeyes I've seen have been converted
to H2's, which do use the heatshield.

Owned, worked on, or played with at least five different original Bugeye Sprites back in the late sixties/early seventies and they all had the heat shields with the original H1 carbs and the pancake filters.

Geez, taking me down memory lane again! Wish I had a few of those cars now!!
