I wish I would have looked for the gearbox number before I put everything back together, but why do things the easy way? Moss says the gear box number is on the top, but where? I have been trying to figure out if my gearbox is original. My heritage certificate states the original engine number, but not the gearbox number. Does anyone know how to figure out what year a gearbox is and if it seems reasonable to go with a particular commission #? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Think there is no way to track by number. Only by smooth case, gear set, rib case.

Bugeye has smooth case, period. No exceptions. All smooth case gear sets are the same but who is peaking.
