Bugeye fulcrum pin the sprinpan help

OK, I'm being optomistic. If I do actually get the spring pans in, the next fun thing looks like the kingpin to spring pan attachment. I was given three types of cork washers. My first question is:1) Which washers do I use? My manual shows one cork washer on either side, but doesn't say which kind. I have included a pic of the three cork washers I was given. Note that the top pic is the beveled washer and has a beveled surface on one side. 2) My next question is facing the pan on the car, which goes to the right or left of the kingpin? 3)It looks like a tight fit to push in those washers, which seem kind of fragile - are there any tricks to make this go smoothly? Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Frank (aka spritenut) uses garden hose washers in place of the cork ones.

I actually like that idea. What is the function of the cork washers anyway?

It is supposed help keep the grease in and the dirt out.
