Bugeye front brake drum temp?

Hello,

I am still plugging away at my 60 Bugeye restoration. I still have the original 948 engine with stock brakes. I am getting ready to powder paint the brake drums. Since the front brake drums do most of the stopping, and probably get the hottest, does anyone know the maixmum temperature the front drums get? Eastwood offers standard paint that can go up to 250 degress, and a high temp paint that goes up to 1000 degrees. The only drawback to the high temp paint is that it is triple the cost. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I think Hi temp would be in order for brake drums if you are going to push the car. However, I used rust olum and have had good results.

Some paints are specifically listed for brake drums. I'd get one of those. Eastwood has them.

Lacking that specification, I'd get the higher temp one. Brakes can get hotter than 250 F.
