Bugeye Floor Replacement

Ready to start Bugeye floor replacement. It is up on a rotisserie. Will do all pannels one at a time, including lateral cross members just below knees. In order to minimumize distortion I will install braces in both door areas.

Question: is there a prefered method for bracing? Some kind of "X" is probably strongest, but more difficult to fabricate. Looks like 1 1/2" angle iron welded between flat plates on each end, and then bolted to top door hinge mount and door latch striker stud mount, would be a lot easier to make and install than an "X" brace. This would only produce a "box" shaped brace. However, if something more substantial than what I described is necessary I'll do whatever it takes. Don't need over kill, but don't want to screw up due to a few extra hours work.

Thoughts from guys who have done this job??? Thanks.

I don't think you could go wrong in following Peter Ploof's lead and copying how he supported his car during it's rebuild. https://www.cardomain.com/ride/2203663 There are lot of photos, but it's perhaps the most complete sheet metal rebuild of a Bugeye that's ever been attempted.

I think maybe the young lady on Wreck Rescue started with less! At least Peter's car was "intact" and running....
