Bugeye dash vinyl

What glue for the dash vinyl? I used Weldwood for the carpets on the floor and to glue carpet to the interior panels. Is it too thick for the vinyl on the bugeye dash?

Other thoughts would be to use 3M super 77 or 3M Rubber and Vinyl 80

I used #M super 77.....worked well....make sure you have the clips for the edges, or over time, some of the folds may come lose.

When I redo mine this month I'll be using Dap Weldwood out of the can, with a small roller.

My advice would be to get the thinnest most stretchable vinyl you can. I tried to use some that was too heavy and I couldn't stretch it enough. It looked bad and the more I worked on it the worse it looked. There is only one thing worse than having it come loose. That is NOT having it come loose.

I bought my vinyl seat covers from AH Spares, bought extra matching vinyl for dash and doors.

Yes, the folds will come loose! [Didn't know there was clips, are they listed by the usual suspects?]

Kurt.

Yes clips.

Guessing that they are the same clips used on the seat's. PO had none on the dash when I got the car but bet tey would work great.

I got clips from a local upholstery suppler. They worked on the seat and the dash. There are two sizes. I used mostly small ones. DSCN8063.jpgDSCN8064.jpg

The Tac and Spedo look late model in the AHS catalogue. Would that make them to small for a Bugeye?
.

It doesn't look like AH Spares actually carries them. I'm not sure what purpose they serve, maybe to help keep dust out of the instruments What I would believe to be a perfectly good substitute is a large o-ring of the correct diameter for the gauge. Even if you got one bigger than the gauge, you could just cut the ring and trim it down to the right size, it's not like it's sealing any fluids.

I think the main purpose is to keep the metal back of the gauges from scratching/ripping the vinyl.
