Hi guys - lots of time and nothing to show for it today. Rebuilt OE dual master today and brakes came up fine but not the clutch. I am 90 percent sure something is off in the rebuild - which is annoying since it is simple and putting in and pulling it out is a pain - but just in case how long should the push rod be?

Thanks!

Moss Motors offers both pushrods. Most depends on your set up: For example, I have a BE, but a 1275 and a late model ribcase. These factors influence the length of pushrod you need. BTW: I put a small 5/16th socket at the end of the pushrod - everything works fine.

Can also put a 7/16 nut in the cylinder where the rod goes to make it a bit longer. I did that as a test and just left it.

From my saved notes

Clutch Salve Cylinder

Per Frank C. 1275 slave rod is 2-11/16" from the center of the hole to the end.
1275 it should measure 3" from the center of the hole to the end of the pushrod. The 948 and 1098 cars are only 2 1/2" long

I think you need to be careful when swapping push rods. I think there were long push rods and short push rods for different master cylinders. If you used the short rods in the long body, you got nothing. If you used the long rods in the short body, you got locked brakes.

Also, you might check that the piston is not stuck half way down the barrel.

Thanks guys - and Porter, yes this was originally posted due to improper piston travel in the bore. Turned out to be a known seal fit issue, so I'm good here now. I double checked my push rods with the info provided by Jim and I'm good on push rod dimension as well.

Thanks guys!
