Bugeye Bumper Brackets Welded!

Heya Folks- another Bugeye newbie question.

On my new project, the front bumper brackets are welded together. The two left hand side brackets are welded together into one unit, and the same for the right hand side.

Was this common, or a DPO action? Should I try to split them apart again?

Thanks!

Mike

They are prone to breakage. A lot are burned together fixing the one piece that cracked. If they line up, no need to seperate them unless you want a show car. Mine were broken, welded together then welded to the frame. Even the thru bolts on frame were welded. I am not putting the front bumper back on my BE, since it gives such a better look.

They were two peices on each side.

don't just type in the blank box below this post hit quote or reply, then at the bottom of the box there is a link called file manager - follow the instructions and you're good to go - pic needs to be less than 100 kb

Here's a shot showing the pair - one appears to have cracked and been welded. I started to grind down the other one, hence the shine.

So, instead of blasting and repainting these, I'm probably better off just replacing?

Thanks

Depends on how bad of a job you do splitting them apart. You can also use as patterns and make your own replacements. Or do what most people do and throw the money at new ones.
