I think I pretty much have everything wired correctly at this point. Thanks to all of you that helped me with this. Now it is down to a few details. There is a bracket that runs between the headlights underneath the bonnet with a hole in the center. It looks like this is where some sort of fastener belongs to hold the wires that go from the rigth to left headlights. Can someone tell me what this looks like and where I might get one? Thanks,Kevin

Kevin

Just took a look at mine. Nothing but a bunch of metal tabs holding it in place. No brackets. Are you certain that you have the harness routed properly between the two headlights. The harness should be routed just above the top of the grill. Across the front there are six tabs to hold it in place, two between the headlights and two on each side near the flashers.

I am not sure that I have the correct route at all. I know I am close by how the wires are near the metal tabs, but I do not see any way of attachment in the middle. I am including a pic to show you where it is now.

You should have two tabs in the middle like those on each side. They are centered on the emblem and are 3 1/2 inches apart. The harness runs under those wings behind the grill rather than over them.

That makes more sense. Now I see where the tabs are I am supposed to use. I do not remember a space in the area you are showing, but I will look more closely when I get home. I am not thrilled about unhooking the wires for the driver side wire, but at least I know what to do now. Thank you so much!

Mine will be off for a while also. That will probably be the last thing I install. It sits in my kitchen where the dining room table use to be and is covered with my wife's best blankets. I placed it on padded stand so that it is easy to work on. I have parts tables and stands around the house. Every time I install a part it makes it that much easier to find other parts. If there is no reason why I should not install the grill, I think I am going for it tonight.

your wife must be remarkable.

My mom always jokes about the time (early in her marriage) she came home and found my dad cleaning a transmission in the bathtub. To this day I'm not sure if it really happened or if it is an exaggeration for effect.

or having to refinish the kitchen table because carb cleaner eats varnish
or cooking hi temp paint on the BBQ

don't ask me how I know, or for that matter why she put up with me.

Yes, my wife is incredible, but I didn't expect to get away with all that I have. Besides, with the bugeye distributed throughtout the house, it always brings up interesting converstation when company comes over. All the parts are pretty much clean enough to eat off of, so I don't see why I can't have them in the kitchen or living room.

If you don't know, I'm sure my wife would be happy to explain :jester:

Yep, cleaned every part on a bugeye back in early 70s in the kitchen sink.

And it was a brand new home as well. Wife had no probs with it and still does not to this day.

Good wife, will be 50 years on the 28th of this month.

Congratualtions Jack. 50 years makes you sort of a rarity in these times. I have only been married 32 years, but I am looking forward to my 50th some day. I hope you have a big party planned. I have never tried to clean parts in my house, but I have used the oven to powderpaint. British cars actually are one thing we have a mutual interest in: I like to work on them, and she likes to drive fast in them.
