Bugeye bonnet badges

Who sells the best BE bonnet badge?

My BE came without one. So as a little Christmas present to myself I bought a new one from an eBay seller, who justifies its $40 price tag by promising the badge will not be the poor reproduction offered by other vendors. But, when I got it I wasn't all that impressed. The lettering is pretty weak--parts of some letters are practically invisible if not missing.

Moss and VB sell this part for $25. When I was out at VB last week I took a look at the part they sell, and it is identical to the one I bought off eBay. The parts guy said they buy theirs from the previously mentioned eBay seller--I was not amused to have paid $15 more for the eBay version.

Has anyone sourced this part from AH Spares or any of the UK suppliers out there? I am just curious if they are all the same. I can put up with a lot of repro stuff whose appearance is so-so, but this is one part I want to look as perfect as possible.

Thanks for your opinions.

Hi, Charlie.I bought one off Ebay too. It looked nice in the picture. I paid $20 - what a piece of junk. I sure wouldn't put it on my car. What I really wanted was a BCF badge. At the car shows this summer I am going to inspect the grill badges carefully and then ask the owners where they purchased them. Hopefully someone will come up with some good information here before then.

Did you get your money back from the seller Charlie? We need to send these vendors of junk a message by demanding a refund, whenever something is overpriced garbage.

I purchased one from AH Spares and am quite pleased with it. Only took a week or so, maybe less to arrive and postage was $5-6$.

Got mine from AH Spares as well. I'm very happy with it. If you go in that direction, you might want to find a few other small things you need that will likely not increase the postage.

Thanks for your thoughts, everyone.

Bryan, I am returning the part to the eBay vendor, who said that I am the only person who has ever asked for a refund on account the of its quality. So much for a massive uprising against subprime parts!

In the end I just ordered one from AH Spares, and we'll see what I get. I'll post a photo of the two emblems side by side when this one comes in.

I'd love to have the NOS one, Ray, but there always seems to be one guy out there that is willing to pay a lot more for such a thing than me.

Thanks again,

Charlie

Now if only someone would make a decent bonnet badge for the later Sprites. Everyone I have seen is that garish brassy color, even on AH Spares site. The Bugeye badge looks good, but the Square body image they are showing looks like everything else I have seen.
