Bugeye 1275 Conversion

Hi all, in the process of installing a 1275 and rib case trans in my 60 Bugeye- what clutch slave cylinder should I use- the original 948 or modify the steel line to work with the 1275?

Any one who has done one of these conversions who would share their experience and provide info would be appreciated.

I used the steel line all the way to the clutch slave -- the slave is in the same place so didn't need to be modified. Can't remember which clutch slave I used though, been too long since I put it in. I switched to disc brakes (and the later backing plates) and had my master cylinder resleeved to suit.

If you are using the standard 7/8" master cylinder, you should probably stick with the original 7/8" slave cylinder. The 1275 slave cylinder is 1" bore and was matched with a 3/4" master cylinder.

If you are upgrading to disc brakes, either now or later. Here is the info you want to review and the conversion that Drew referenced in his post. I brought these back into production about 5 years ago and there are dozens that have been installed with 100% satisfaction. You can have one or both bores converted to 3/4". These will last longer and perform better than even a new one.

Gerard's master cylinder conversion is the one that I did, and it works great! NFI, just a satisfied customer.

Thanks Hap and Drew.

New correct length pushrods (required for 3/4" inch bore conversion) are available too.
