Bug Eye Door Seals

Gentlemen:

Can someone relate their experience with Bugeye door seals? I'm on my third set (including the ones that came with the car). I've purchased one set each from VB and Moss. My experience has been that they don't grip in place and repeatedly fall out of position. This is especially notable around the rear section of the door openings because I swipe against them getting in/out of the car.

Any suggestions?

Mike, Not sure if Moss is selling Macgregor's seals, but I've found that their about the best around. Check with Macgregor. Nice fellow, met him once, very British.
As far as Vic Brit is concerned, I don't buy from them unless I know who made the part and it's quality. Moss is constantly looking for a better product and their staff is much more up on what they sell. Vic Brits people are just a bunch of order takers and most know nothing about what their selling, plus I have a hard time understanding some of them, along with the fact that some of their stuff is pure junk! I know, I've sent stuff back because of it. Their door seals were the worse I've ever seen! That's why I don't buy from them anymore. But, that's just me. PJ

2nd the comment about Macgregor. I bought a set of his seals for my BE and they are perfect, no clips, you can take them off and reposition, etc. He will send you samples to check color match, as he did for me with my red interior.
Doesn't always answer email, best to call.
cheers,

I have a sample of the bristleflex from MacGregor. Excellent quality. I ended up buying mine from AH Spares for originality sake and am very happy with those.

I just purchased and fitted the MacGregor "Bristleflex" door seals for my Midget, and they're PERFECT. I bought the fancy, furry ones, color coded tan (brown)for my Autumn Leaf interior, they're an excellent color match, too.

Perfect fit, doors shut nicely and no bulge. The MacGregor seals went on like butter, they look great and better than new. You have to cut off some of the excess at the top, and be sure to keep the old tin/metal caps from your old ones (if you have 'em), they fit right on top of the MacGregor seals.

MacGregor sells seals for all kinds of LBCs: MGA, MGB, Spridgets, Jag, Mini, Trumphs, etc., Healeys, etc. I have no affiliation, just letting you all know about this guy's good service and products.

FYI, hope it's helpful.

I got all the seals for the MGB hardtop from him. Stuff no other supplier even knew about. He supplied the various seals for the Elans, too. He worked at Abingdon. And a hoot to talk with!

Thanks, guys.

I ordered the MacGregors from the link provided. The current seals are pretty embarrassing, so I'm looking forward to getting the new ones - which might be mid-July between Canada, Tennessee, Washington, and the Bahamas!
