Budget renat a truck [NMC]

Sorry not much Spridget content except to say I am once again covering ground that the last time was done in my Midget!

I am having a lot of trouble with the 24 foot Budget truck my friends rented for the move from the Seattle area to South Dakota.

IT'S A GMC Diesel truck, fairly new but really lacking maintenance.

At one point all I could do was to get it to trudge 9 mph up one of the hills leading to Butte Montana.
I stopped in Butte and bought the large size diesel additive that says it cleans the fuel system and added that to a new tank of fuel.

After a while it worked into the system and t acted better, not great but better.
I was able to drive 25 mph over a couple more passes and that beats 9 mph big time!

We are in Bozeman for the night, hopefully we will make t to SD tomorrow night.

Thoughts about the Diesel truck???

As I mentioned in a personal message my daughter and son in-law had to change truck's in there move from NJ to Minnesota.

That meant unloading the truck into the other!!

The truck they got was better but not great. They were also told it was because maintainance hadn't been done. GM but another company.

Kurt.

They provided it full of fuel so I didn't check the oil right away.
By the time I did it was too late, already on the road.
It was a hectic time getting their stuff loaded up and getting both trucks to our house so we could sleep at home one last night before the trip.
At the first fuel stop I looked at the sludge (oil) and that is where I base my presumption that this truck has NOT been maintained.
Our friend rented the truck, so she is on the phone with them about it now.
To top it off I seem to have developed a sinus infection.
When it rains...

The mechanic suspects a clogged fuel filter. Hopefully we will be back on the road soon.

He found water in the fuel filter, it was a completely new truck after the new filter.
We are in Rapid City, SD now.
Another day of travel tomorrow.

Up at 0515 for another wonderful day...
At least the weather is nice!

Got home at midnight last night, I'm sick and I'm tired.
Feels like pneumonia or something, gotta go see the Doc.

water in your filter?

Yeah, it feel like it for sure!
(a little thicker than water and - well I'll spare everyone the details...)

Sorry to here you're sick, Rick. Guess if you had had more time it wouldn't have been much fun anyway.

Take it easy and recuperate.

Kurt.

Thanks Kurt, saw my Doctor and got some strong antibiotics.
Hopefully it will turn around quickly.
