BT7 throttle relay levers short and long

Hello,

It is my desire to revert the fuel system on a 1960 BT7 to original. I am in need some information in regards to the throttle relay in order to complete this task. I am hoping that some knowledgeable subscriber would be able point to where I could find that information or has personal experience.

There are two throttle relay levers on the accelerator spindle (throttle relay shaft). Some documentation refers to the as long and short. The one nearest the firewall was likely an AUC 4544 from what I can determine. The description is cranked -center to center 1 1/4” - hole A 5/16” - hole B 3/16”.

The other throttle lever is just before the nylon bushing on the spindle. I cannot find a reference as to a part number. I would like know if was cranked or straight and what is the correct center to center distance between the two holes.

One more measurement would also be appreciated. I would like to know the length of the connecting rod between the throttle relay lever and the throttle of the HD6.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The distance between the 3/16" holes on the long and short arms is 2.8" C to C.

The other info is covered in section A.37 of the Bentley manual, or can be deduced from that info.

Some folks have tack-welded these arms to the rod. I use a brace between the two, as they have a tendency to slip after you've installed the engine. Ask me how I know.

Steve,
It's been a long time. When I asked this question a year ago I was completely out to lunch as to how all the parts and pieces of the throttle linkage went together. I was revistting all of this again today while trying to adjust the pedal height. I was wanting to adjust the angle between the short and long throttle relay arms. I now fully appreciate your solution!! Did you end up pulling the engine??
