i purchased three different manifold studs for the head. went out today just to see where they should all go. the parts pictures i have are not very clear. basically you get 5 short intake studs. 2 long intake studs and 6 exhaust studs. the 2 long intake studs and the exhaust studs look just alike to me, so really i got 8 long studs and 5 short ones.
in the pic below you can see how i placed them in the head. the three center ones at the bottom and the 2 center ones at the top are the 5 short ones. is this where they should go? i do not want to put longer studs in where they might hit the throttle linkage or something else.

Thanks

TL,
Here are a few pictures that may help.

Thanks for the pics. i tried to blow them up. it looks like you have seven short studs and six longer ones. not what Moss shows but maybe i have something mixed up in the way i read it. might order two more short ones just in case.....

From the Moss catalog, there are 17 studs total.
Guessing about the disposition:
7 for the intake manifold-only, except for the common ones with exhaust on either end. The exhausts would be the 10 long ones to accommodate the tall nuts.
Guessing the exhausts would have more stress due to the weight of the manifolds etc and would therefore be the longer ones.

actually i believe four of those are bolts, that run thru the exhaust manifold and are not studs.
what i question are the intake studs. they call for 5 short ones (#724-075) and two longer ones (#724-080). i am just not sure where they want the longer ones to go. a number of my studs were missing when i bought the car so i can not go back to old pictures.
After looking at some pictures i took at a car show of a tri-carb, it looks like all the linkage is outsite the heatshield, which makes sense. so there is nothing behind the heatshield that these bolts should hit. I can probably put them either place.
Maybe i will send a note to the Moss tech department and see what they say.

One correction - there are no bolts, they are all studs, course threads in head and fine threads for nuts. The long studs are for the exhaust with brass nuts & the short are intakes. It's been a while but I think the 2 longer of the short ones are for where the heater tube supports are but I don't really think it matters much where the various 'short' ones go.

on my exhaust manifold there are 4 bolts that run in to the bottom four holes in the head. you can see those hole in Keith's picture. the bolts are number 25 on the Moss page. they do not show available. but that is what i was talking about. sorry if that was confusing.

Drone Dog... I forgot you have a tri-carb and yes, in your case there are bolts. I run 3 HD6 myself but with headers so no long bolts in mine & I forgot what the stock set-up was like. sorry for any confusion I caused.
