Hi I am doing a complete frame-off restoration of my BT7 . I'm about 10 months into it now , and have just finished installing the rebuilt engine. I have decided ( with your guys help ) to convert from a genorater to an alternator. I am wondering if there are any special wirring problem's I should know about? (coil, voltage regulator, fuel pump? ect) Thanks Bruce
 
If you are converting to negative ground at the same time, then that alone has it's own list of things to check.
 
Hi Bruce, Yep there are special wiring problems to worry about. AS noted, you will have to define the grounding system you plan to use prior to selecting an Alternator or making the required installation changes. However, in either case the existing Voltage regulator will not be required. Some retain it in a gutted fashion for authenticity, but use it only as a junction box to interface the Alternator with the vehicle's electrics.--Fwiw--Keoke
