BS About TR's

AFAIK, TRF has never sold "BS about TRs", only "More BS about TRs" (basically the sequel). They still have it listed for sale.

Trevor, if you really have a copy of the earlier one, is there any way I could get a copy ? Just name your conditions ... I'll even drive to Apache Junction, buy you dinner and let you watch while I do the copying if you like !
 
Well it would be a lot closer for me to drive to Apache Junction (I was just there last week) and make a copies for Randall & me.

In other words, if you have 'BS' (I have 'More BS' already) I'm certainly interested.
 
I bought my copy of "More BS . . ." directly from Bob in 1988. And this copy has been signed by the author.

In the Preface, Bob explains how he wrote the first booklet in 1984 and many were given away in the Phoenix area, etc, so he published the 2nd edition. He explains that the first 27 pages of edition 2 "are unchanged from the original booklet".

I was in Pheonix on business in 1990 or so and met Bob and his old friend Digger Davitt (both now deceased). It was nice to meet them face to face.

Bob had a cane for support when he walked. His limp was caused during the war when he was in the US Air Force on bombing raids from North Africa over to Italy. He had such detailed stories to relate, but I don't remember all the details.

Somewhere, I saw a B&W photo of Bob, a thin looking kid in a T-shirt standing next to his TR2 that he bought brand new in 1954.

Do have the link for it on their site? I looked for it but couldn't find it. Sounds interesting. I'd like to get a copy.

Thanks! Never would have found that on my own. Sounds great from the desc. I'm ordering that tonight soon as I get home.
 
FYI - I bought all 3 volumes of TR Tech Tips by Ken Gillanders. Each book is about 1/2" thick. Packed full of info for TRs, most is for the sidescreen TRs. The info is from all the early TRSC Tech Tips that Ken wrote in the TRSC "TRIBUNE". Ask Ken if he still sells them.

Don, I think you may be misremembering slightly ... sounds like you are talking about the "Tech Talk" volumes that were published by TRSC. They do contain mostly content by Ken G. (since he is the club's technical secretary) but there was some content by other authors (including Steve Hedke of British Pacific, Marty Lodawer and ISTR Steve Balfour). They're also only 1/4" thick at best.

Unfortunately they've been out of stock for a long time; and although there was talk of reprinting them some years ago, I don't believe anything ever came of it. Last I heard, the master copies could not be located, and it was felt by some that making copies of a copy was not acceptable. There's also a relatively small proportion of sidescreen owners in the club today, and even fewer that are interested in modifying their cars (which seemed to be the subject of most of the articles).

There was also some smoke and noise about a volume 4, but it likewise died down without ever producing results.

I do have the set, though, and if there is a lot of interest (and I can obtain the club's permission), I might be able to turn them into PDF files.

Were you ever able to publish the "Tech talk" volumes you mentioned in this VERY OLD post into PDF files? If so, are they still available anywhere?
