Ya ~know~ it won't be ME.
 
My sister in-law's house on the water in Fort Walton Beach survived the cold but the neighbor's house had a leak at the dock and my bro in-law could not turn off, called water dept. who shut off water. Neighbors are in Europe and do not know if heat on in house.

If I lived in Yuma I might complain. Once was there on business and temp was near 120. Had to open the doors to my car and let it "air" for 10 minutes before I could even get in. Then, I had to use a rag to grip the wheel and shifter as there would produce 2nd degree burns otherwise.
 
I grew up in a winter climate, it's just part of life for me... Talk to the folks who live in the far north (ie. Alaska, Yukon, etc...), they are active in all kinds of cold winter weather... They don't let much stop them... Quick update. Got the water line replaced at 10:00 today. Water restoration people here on Tues to start fans and dehumidifiers, and tear out all of the carpet. Will have to replace wall and partial ceiling in the LR, BR, closet, halls (2), and laundry room.

Thank goodness for insurance.

it's all just stuff - I know it is a pain, but great perspective! (and thank goodness for insurance)
 
'Loose any furniture?'

Furniture loss to be determined by the adjuster tomorrow. Shouldn't be too bad. Biggest loss will be drywall and ceiling. Walls are 8" thick, metal studs, so they will be ok. Door frames are wood and have warped as well as baseboards. House is built on a concrete pad and it is level because there was approximately 2" of water in every room, and the neighbor said water was running out of every door and the garage.

It has apparently been below freezing for two weeks and there are hundreds of houses and condo's in the same shape in MB alone. These kinds of temps are pretty much unknown and I'm not sure the building codes take this into their specs.

Just have wait and see how things go from here.
