Brooklands Screens

Yea, I have a set and they work better than you'd think. I can do 70 mph with a ball cap on, I also like the way it redoes my wifes hair for her (not sure she agrees).

A bit like being on a motorcycle I'll bet.I've heard that the screens wern't offered as an option on the TR2/3s so you would have to drill your own holes to install them? Seems to me I saw an Australian article or thread on the proper location to mount them? Any problems getting the windshield stanchions off?

Karl,
No, they were offered from the factory as an option. I have an early (56) small mouth and they have a pre drilled scuttle with bolts in place. The problem is the Brooklands made today are a dif size/mounting system so I had to drill anyways. When you get a Bklnd kit you'll see how to do this. Leave your wind screen in place and put the brooklands mounting posts in place and mark the drill holes. Then remove your windscreen and drill away. That way you can dismount the screens proper(allen screws) and leave the mounting posts in place on the scuttle with the windscreen in place, or leave the whole deal in place. That will make sense when you get a kit.
The windscreen was designed to come off quickly for racing, for my early it's 4 captive screw turns and off she comes, piece of cake. Same to put it back on.
They are like a bike with a fairing, just great, I have not had the screen on in two years (Arizona).

There is some talk about reproducing the original screens over in England. Frank "Angelfj" on this forum is also pursuing this idea here in the US.

I recently met a fella here who reproduces parts for old Chryslers and I mentioned re-popping these screens and he told me his suppliers could handle the job and have 'em in the supply line in months...hmmmm.

I run with them about half the time... not too windy for me though I always wear a cap-clip to keep my hat from blowing away. Biggest nuisance may be if you live where there is a chance of rain. Being in a place where it may go months w/o raining makes this an easier choice (though I have been caught in a shower with it).

Let me know if you want any photos as the screen is on the TR3A at the moment.

Unrelated to this subject: When I look at the first 3 posts in this thread all I get are the first line, i.e. "...is it on the" and "...I can do 70" and "... heard that the screens" all 3 posts just end abruptly.

Is this just me or do others get truncated messages? The next 2 posts appear complete.

Pics of the car with the screens would be great. Truncated messages might be a computer glitch as my messages came in OK.

I've run with the brooklands screens quite a bit. You don't get much more wind then with the windscreen, as they are almost as high. See attachment of TR3 with aero screens...not my car, but a pic I got off the internet.
