Broke Down Again !!

Well, I guess some forward progress is being made.
I got 48 miles driven between breaks downs this go
around. At least nothing I have installed has broken
down.

My car now has 100% new front and rear suspension-
I got 3 miles drive on the new suspension before
DPO Pedro's water pump blew up. Blargh!!

So, for a change of pace- I'm going to quit trying
to make the car functional for a while. I think I'll
attend to other, less critical, broken down, busted
DPO Pedro parts.

This week I'll concentrate on the hood release system.
The hood will not presently lock down due to a broken DPO
Pedro latch mechanism. Flaps around and rattles in the breeze.

Maybe also start cleaning Pedro out of the engine compartment.

Dale, what you you mean by that; did the pulley shear the shaft?
I'm just putting mine all back together, so I'm curious what
exactly went wrong.....

Kevin,

I have no idea what failed in the water pump. All
I know is it now makes a high pitched "whine" noise,
that gets louder as the rpms increase.

Once again, I have demonstrated the folly of a non-mechanic
Triumph owner attempting mechanical stuff. It will take me
a while to re-build a head of steam to make another attempt
at getting the car functional and in the street.

I am good at refurbishing things. I think I'll strip
and refurbish DPO Pedro's combo fiberglass, bondo, steel
firewall before I install the new hook latch gizzmo to
replace DPO Pedro's that is broken.

Maybe after that project, I'll give it another go at getting
the car functional. Here's a before photo of the firewall-
ugly, yes?

Either the bearings or the seal are making the noise. I wouldn't be shocked if the reason for failure is simply lack of usage. Come on Dale, I swapped the water pump on my car in 25 minutes this week. Lets get back on the road.

Tinster,
for a while I starting to get worried. You were making too much progress on getting this piece of uuuhm, something on wheels, together. Even more worried when reading the first lines of this post: a few miles without a break-down! Wow and Holy Sh*t!
In the end things broke down. I don't care what it is, it probably takes time to finish it which is good!
Why good? Well just because I hate to see less posts from you. I learn quite a bit from your experiences, really like to way how you write about them, also from a technical point of view and because I have a good laugh about it as well.
Keep up the good work, and don't go to fast or find another Pedro!

Dale

All will be okay, it isn't that expensive or is very time consuming.

Hey Box-

Wow dude, are you ever gonna eat them words
or what??

Ya wanna place yer bet now???? I am prepared to bet.

A $100 donation to the forum says I'll get it installed
correctly and the hood will open and stay shut upon demand.
You prepared to put $100 in front of yer words concerning
my abilities (or lack there of) with a wrench?

By now you should have figured out Tinster
don't do NUTHIN' half a$$ed or without a
backup plan.

Are you ready to donate a $100 Boxman !!! ???

I'll post a video clip, the forum members can judge
the winner/loser.

The glove has been thrown !

Senor Dale
Remain calm, and pace yourself for this engagement. Could be a drawn out affair.
