British V8 2010 - "Converting Indy"

Offline
British V8 2010 - "Converting Indy"

British V8 2010 will be held on the west side of Indianapolis from July 8-10 (Thursday through Saturday). I would recommend arriving on Wednesday and departing on Sunday.

We will have activities beginning Thursday morning....and we are waiting on a contract from O'Reilly Raceway Park (formerly IRP) for the road course and will also have an autocross at this location in the afternoon. Contracts are also pending for indoor go-kart racing (gas carts with good building ventilation), a dyno session, a visit to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (garages, track(s), Gasoline Alley, and the museum), and a possible visit to Andretti-Green corporate offices and shoppe. Tech sessions and conversion comaradarie is a given.

We've got a British pub lined up for dinner one evening, and of course we will have an event banquet and auction on Saturday evening at the host hotel.

The hotel we've contracted with has given us a GREAT rate and is conveniently located to I-465 as well as ORP (IRP).

British V8 2010 hotel info................

When reserving a room quote "BRITISH V8" so that you get the fantastic rate of $66.49 + tax per night. This includes complimentary deluxe continental breakfast. Reservations can only be done on the phone (317-299-8400) DO NOT USE WEBSITE/INTERNET you will not get the great rate!

Arriving Wednesday 7/7 thru Saturday 7/10 leaving Sunday morning etc.

Reserve before June 7th to get the great rate.

We hope to have a registration form available within the next few weeks (we have to SEE the contracts first!) and will advise accordingly.

British V8 2010 is NOT a car show; we have no awards, etc. It is a gathering of enthusiasts to have some fun; to be able to put their cars into some spirited, safe driving, in a controlled environment; to met up with old friends and gain some new friends.

British V8 is open to anyone with a V6/V8/converted British car...to anyone interested in doing a conversion....and we've even had a few non-British conversions attend in the past!

Re: British V8 2010 - "Converting Indy"

You are more than welcome to attend!

We've had factory V8's of various manufacture attend in the past and enjoy seeing them and talking with the owners. Also nice comparing how the factory did it to how the converter(s) now do it.

It's all about the comaradarie.

Re: British V8 2010 - "Converting Indy"

Pulling your leg, Rick. Would be interesting, though, to see how the Alpine conversions stack up against the Tigers. The SP250 I just sold was, according to the PO, once converted to a Ford Tiger engine and them later back to the Daimler V. And I have seen one with a Vette engine. Hope the non-show show goes well.

The "non-show" concept goes over well with this crowd. We've done these events since 1994; I've now hosted three of them (Champaign, IL in 1999; Terre Haute, IN in 2005; and now Indy in 2010)

We have activities that allow the registrants to put their cars through the paces in a safe environment (closed track; autocross; etc), we've provided dyno sessions, tech sessions, "how-it-was-done" sessions; meandered into go-karting; and of course the parking lot tyre-kicking/lie-swapping is great as well!

It would be about a 10 hour drive or so for you from the Baltimore area....think about attending!

Re: British V8 2010 - "Converting Indy"

A question has come up regarding age limits for our indoor karting activity....here is our response....verbiage direct from the contract with Fastimes...

"All drivers must be five feet tall, 18 years of age, and be able to present a valid picture ID......."
