British Racing Stripes

Does anyone know what British Racing team used to use stripes to
help the pit crews identify the cars. One stripe was for lance-corporal, two for corporal and three for sargeant. My club is having a quiz and I have been unable so far to find any reference to this anywhere .

It was Eccure Ecosse, a Scottish team, used a lot on the C type and D type Jaguars....

garry, i always thought them stripes was the "sloooow" members of the pit crew.
