British Leyland FM radio question

I bought a very nice early 70's vintage BL radio last year and just got around to installing it last weekend. The problem is the left speaker channel is not putting out sound. If I disconnect the wire from the right speaker and plug it into the left the speaker works....so its not the speaker itself. I have double checked my connections and wires and all appear to be good. The radio was bench tested by the seller, who has a good reputation on EBay and among TR folks, and was working as of 7/07.

I notied the volume knob (leftside) pulls out. Does anyone know what adjustment is made by pulling the volume knob out until it "CLICKS"? I'll try to get pics up shortly since this may be clear as MUD.

have you looked for the balance knob? i have one on my BL radio, i know,
i might have a different type. a picture would be great.

It may well be the "volume knob" becomes the "balance knob" when pulled out and may well be why
you're not hearing sound out of that speaker side....the balance may be turned all the way
to the opposite side. Wouldn't it be great if that's all there was to it? Let's hope so.

If you can find the model number of the radio, I might have a SAMS for it.
