TR2/3/3A British Car Owners are the BEST!

I am a docent at the California Auto Museum in Sacramento, California. I am part of a small crew that maintains vehicles that are used for events. About a year ago, a 1957 TR3 was donated to the museum. It was in running condition, but was tired and had sat for quite a while. Local members of the United British Sports Car Club took the car under their wings and took the car to a member's house to help bring the car up to a safe operating condition. To mention a couple tasks, the gas tank was removed and cleaned, floors were brought up to safe conditions, and brake and tail lights were converted to LED bulbs. Many more repairs were accomplished.

This group of British car owners is to be commended for their actions.

Your very own Jerry from Loomis was the ringleader for these repairs. Jerry, chime in on the laundry list of items that were completed! The UBSCC donated about $2500 in parts for this work. Moss provided a nice discount so the dollars would stretch a little further. Was a lot of fun.

Here is the car. The paint is good at 10-20 feet but the car runs well now. This is a special car, it has the basket weave dash which was only put on 1000 cars. UBSCC had about 10-15 volunteers at each of the 3 tech sessions to work on the car. The major problem was old gas or something that dissolved in the gas tank. This sludge pulged the gas line, pump and fuel bowls. So we pulled the tank lines and cleaned the fuel bowls. Boiled out the tank and coated it with sealant. Replace all the ignition parts, floorboards, carpet, seat attachment repair . Added some LED lights to the rear so they can be seen. Sealed the front inner fenders. Replaced the ball joints, replaced the bump stops.
Mainly stuff that would make the car safe to drive. The club members had fun and some who never work on cars learned a lot.
