If you want a flat fixed or a tire changed MAYBE, but NEVER let them open the hood.

Just because you never heard of him or heard of people getting screwed does not mean much just your opinions, not trying to convince anyone simply letting it be known someone is out there. He's been the only 1 trusted to mechanical well being & fixes on my TR6 since '96 others that have used him call him back. FYI use to do work on my TR6 at Brits Sports in Riverside for decades owner passed so now offering his knowledge/experience at you door, your choice call & talk with him or stay in the diy darkness with what you think

If that's the case then they should be rewarded with more business.
Only offered my experience which as a Jaguar Mechanic, I had to undo thousands of dollars worth of bad wrenching.

I get it your experience. One might say never heard of TR6 with over 400K miles on it, I know of 3 one of which I own with 407,488 miles. Tracy has R&R tranny, diff, installed aluminum flywheel, rear disc brakes, complete front suspension, aluminum radiator, electric fan & much more the past 15+ yrs in my garage, saving me the stress of making arrangements: take my TR6 somewhere, leave it, pick it up, it stays in garage + get answers to ?s while he does his magic, TRuly a lost breed!! Jag owner contacted me, gave him Tracy's info he's since used him several times

I'm not basing my comments on owners experience just the aftermath.
Since you have found a good one you should keep praising them and push others to use them.
That might be the only mobile mechanic that is reputable or not only an exception to the rule.
I wish there was someone near me who had such a skill, since I am no longer able to do my own.
The neighbor across the street from me keeps using mobile mechanics.
Her last one was typical, took the motor apart, got cash for more parts and then disappeared.
She was left with her motor apart in her garage and had to have the car towed to where she got the original estimate.
That estimate did not include putting all the damage right, so the final was the original $5000 + towing + $2000.
I am lucky that I have found a shop in town that does great work at reasonable prices.

Not pushing anyone each of us has to be our own judge, just giving reliable source I've used for decades, urging others don't take my word for it call him see for yourself, more than dozen have reached out to me with their after service satisfaction in his abilities & knowledge that's what matters, quality honest workmanship, problem solving

At 76 owning the same TR6 for 46+ yrs my conscience doesn't allow me to recommend to other enthusiat anyone, doing anything, I have no personal experience/knowledge about as we've been through the gaunlet of bad wanna be British mechanics when they were plentiful

It would be one of those 'consider the source' situations, but your recommendation would be enough for me to give Tracy a try if the need arose.....Of course I'm saying that from SW Mississippi not Southern California.

A kin to me having Tracy R&R my strombergs/carb/manifold in my garage to ship to advance tech for rebuild TR6 set in garage waiting for return. Shortly after found many were sending them to you, satified with a.t. their results but always seeking the known best for my TR6 so I can continue to indulge in my Passion Driving my TR6

Always Have Always Will appreciate the expertise of those that go beyond the norm for their customers, honest, attention to detail, good at what they do, get it RIGHT & a conscience as well, to name a few Poolboy carbs, Phil tranny/diff, Tracy the rest mechanics, electrical, takes them apart reassembles but out sources engine rebuilds.

At least dozen individuals contacted me asked about Tracy told them for decades I was selfish kept his expertise for my TR6 decided to share my answer to their ? how do you have so many miles 407,488 miles & always smiling when we see U & your TR6 running flawless, my answer couple yrs of frustrations searching for & with several mechanics, well aware how those times felt, now we have 1 of only 2 pro British Mechanics that have worked on it since '82 as I've always chose to go pro vs diy with mine

The trouble with mobile mechanics is they have "no skin in the game". There is no shop reputation to protect, probably no business license, and I doubt he pays taxes on what he collects. In the State of California, mechanics are regulated by the Bureau of Automotive Repair. He also needs a state resale card if he is going to sell parts and collect the taxes on them. They must be fully licensed, and with no brick and mortar, physical address, I doubt he is operating legally. I do my own repairs thank you. ...J.D.

Reputation for his livelihood, referrals, new/repeat customers. Business license, doubt paying taxes your speculation. Some of the worst mechanics in Cali regulated by Bureau of Auto Repair. Don't know about others I get parts needed prior to scheduleing appt. Simply about choses diy good 4u I choose not to, 4me what matters 30+ yrs knowledge & experience come to my house.

No! U R misreading or not reading my post he lives in Riverside has work from San Diego-Ventura. Fact for years the owner in Fallbrook was arranging: take/leave/pick up to what was said to be a reputable shop in San Pedro 2 & 1/2 hrs away before Tracy who's since corrected/solved a lot of the troublesome incorrect issues this reputable shop performed

Not interested in what government offices say just honest, quality work performed on my TR6 so I can do what I do, keep it clean & Drive it done debating legal/right/wrong/business/taxes simply offering a choice I use for those that maybe hunting a British Mechanic
