Last night I tore apart the carb, cleaned it all out and got everything freed up and cleaned up. This morning I put it back on the motor after giving the crankcase a shot of WD40, and sot a little in the plug holes and spun it over several times. Then I mounted it on an engine stand, gave it a shot of ether, wrapped the rope around the pulley and it roared to life for a few seconds!
I'm happy.
I'm still in the process of getting all the black paint off. It was a poorly done spraybomb job somewhere along the way. fortunately that means it comes off fairly easily.
I filled the aluminum gas tank with water several times and sloshed it around till it came out clear, and tonight I'm going to continue cleaning the tank and petcock. I'm hoping to get a test barrel and try it with a real tank of gas mix this week.
As the paint comes off and I give it a good rubbing with some polish, it's looking better and better. Nice and shiny aluminum.
