For those of you out there who had the good fortune to attend the races at Bridgehampton Race Circut in the 50s,60s and early 70s.....the Bridgehampton Historical Society will be holding their 10th annual Historic Rally this September 28th. The rally is open to cars vintage 1953 and earlier and salutes the early "road races" held over public roads from 1949 thru 53.
This year David E. Davis Editor/Publisher of Automobile Magazine will join the rally campaigning a 1940 Chevy Coupe driven by Juan Fangio in the Argentine 600 Gran Premo of 1948. Also on hand will be Author Bert S. Levy ( The Last Open Road and Montezumas Ferrari ) whose columns appear regulary in British car magazine. We shall see if he is able to mooch a ride for the rally!
If you're in the New York metro area its worth the trip to Long Islands scenic east end. The field is always filled with interesting classics from Fiat Topolinos to blower Bentleys as well as MG T types, XK120/40 and the occasissional C-Type.
I will be running my 53 MGTF trying to improve from my previous 12th overall. If interested check out WWW.hamptons.com/bhhs
