I attended a car in Phoenix this week end. I've been a part of it since 1999. Finally, a first place. Previously the car has earned, been given a second place- always a bridesmaid never a bride. The plaque looks nice on the wall but it is a bit hollow... there were only four Spitfires in the show and only one in my class. I can sort of retire for now, because the car goes into a special class next year with all the really good cars- a beautiful maroon, MG TF, Al Moss's 1948 Morgan, and flawless Jaguar XK 140, among others. Thanks. I just wanted to brag a little. T.T.

Trevor, Congrats. I just missed seeing you as I went to the Ferrari/Jaguar club event in Scottsdale (business-auto appraisal stuff)instead. Are you a member of the Desert triumph Club? pat

I for one love to see a nice spit or boxsprite, done right and driven. you have to admire people who love their LBC enough to spend the $$ to keep them up even though the current market values dont justify the costs.Allways remember"sportscars get you through times of no money better than money gets you through times of NO sportscar!!!"

Yes, I am a former president of DCTRA. We had a good number of TR6s, few TR3s,4s & 250s at the show. I think Spitfires have appreciated a bit, but still one could spend $10,000 in restoration and have a wonderful $5000 car. Now I remember I'll be in a class with a Sunbeam Tiger and a terrific Austin Healy. At least the car will be in good company. T.T.
