Break In Woes Part 2

While the car was down, I had the rear end rebuilt. Sounds wonderful, you can't hear it. But wait what's that puddle on the floor. Smells like gear lube, tastes like gear lube, it's under the rear end. Must be gearlube. Take the car to the shop that rebuilt the rear end, yes they say, it's gearlube and it's coming from the drivers side axle seal. New seal wont be in for another day or some, they will fix early next week. Good news, they are local, and they will fix it in the car and I don't have to drop the rear end out. Although with all the car shuffling around and work, it would save gas to drop it and take it to them.
Now why did I have to think of that??

Aloha,

That is the nice thing about having work done locally by a reputable shop, they stand by their work. If they cleaned up the rear end and repainted it, you may want to suggest they check the the vent to make sure it didn't get plugged inadvertently.

Also, make sure that that flange is not scored and eating seals, like on one yellow TR6 in RI that had to have two put in to correct the problem, after the line was noticed on the flange.

I know three other guys who had the same problem with the right side flange. Must be a British thing.
