Brass brake cylinder sleeves

I'm considering brass sleeves in the disc brake cylinders of the E-Type brakes. The cost is $50 per cylinder at a shop in Quincy,CA. Does anyone have experience with this solution to pitted brake cylinders?

Bill, I do not have experience with sleeved calipers , but did have my 71E's brake servo brass sleeved, due to pitting, at Apple Hydraulics in NY. First rate job and like the calipers should prevent further pitting due to moisture contamination of the fluid. I will be refreshing my IRS this winter and may be going down that same path once I evaluate the calipers. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Rick
 
John Ferrall in New York will sleeve them in Stainless Steel for about the same price ($50 per)

(I would do that but have decided to install the Hye-dra-cyl Solid stainless cylinders/pistons ($200 per!)
 
I've used brass sleeves in both of our E-Types , calipers on the 64, master & servo with the oldest going back to 81 with no problems. I recently had to rebuild the servo on the 69, which was sleeved in 81, and the sleeve still looked perfect.
 
It's good to have input from folks who have used both brass and stainless. I think I'll try the brass. The shop that does it has an expanantion of why they think it's the better approach. You can see it at Sierra Specialty Automotive, Quincy CA, https://www.brakecylinder.com/
I have no idea whether they are right. It's probably a case where either one will work well when done properly.
