Brake tubing, Reservoir to MC

It looks like I have to relocate my brake reservoir further forward in the engine compartment. So now I need longer tubing to feed the MC’s. Would soft aluminum tubing be a no no? The tubing I’m replacing is copper, but if I recall, the fittings on the bottom the reservoir tank are also alum. I’ll be using non-silicone brake fluid if that makes a difference. Any thoughts?
 
Hi Greg,
My gut feel is that aluminum is even less fatigue resistant than copper. Not so good for long relatively unsupported brake tubes. Can't you use "real" brake tubing such a Bundyflex or something? Aluminum fittings are short, with thick cross sections, not the same as tubing. I don't think the fluid type is a consideration, I hope not.

Well greg, Whats wrong with putting a piece of rubber brake hose in ,in an unconspictuos spot to extend the line .Most other British cars connect the reservoir to the lines with rubber tubing.---Keoke

Just curious, but why must you move the reservoir more forward.

Actually, I should back pedal a little here. I need to move my reservoir forward to what would be a stock position. I just had some ¼” aluminum appliance gas line in the garage and thought “Hey!?” I did a test double flare with it, which turned out very nice and it bends in tight radiuses without collapsing. Off to the auto store in the morning.

To answer your question Vette, I need to clear the new carburetor setup that I hope I’ll see progress on this Monday. If progress IS made, I’ll revive an old thread to tell you all about it. Maybe some pictures too. If not, I’ll be very cranky and working on Solid Works a lot. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/computer.gif
