Brake shoe suppliers and compound recomendations

Any input on suppliers and compounds for vintage racing (VSCCA) in a 100. Races are 20 minutes in length. Drums are hard to find and expensive, so really agressive compounds are not my first choice. It is vintage racing but I am upgrading from Bn1 to Bn2 fronts (rears are the same) with DW linings. Any thoughts on this. thanks jtb

Re: Brake shoe suppliers and compound recomendatio

Hi John,
I would consider Porterfield racing type R4 or R4S carbon-Kevlar lining.

You will likely have to find core shoes for them to reline. British Car Specialists may be able to dig up a set of used shoes & forward them to Porterfield.

My stock drum inside diameters are 11.005" but yours will need to be measured. You need to accurately specify the drum diameter & a lining thickness of no greater than .175". Ask Porterfield whether the R4 compound or the R4S compound would be best.
