Brake Servo XK150

Anybody rebuilt the XK150 brake servo? It is actually two parts, the vacuum part and the hydrolic part. If you have rebuilt either, I sure would like to hear your comments.

Done a few of 'em. Only painful part is the spring tension on disassembly/reassembly. Not ~bad~ per-se but if you don't expect it, it'll be a face-full of surprise IYSWIM. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Have you got a workshop manual for the car? If not, I'd say find one, mebbe e-bay or ask around the nearest Jag owner's club(s). It has an extensive explanation of the assembly process. If you get 'stuck' post the problem and we'll try working thru it. I've a factory book here (on the 6-7/8" "pot") and may be able to scan some of it.

EDIT: You may need to PM me to get my attention: I rarely stick my nose in the Jag forum. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Thanks for the response. I have ordered a new servo and I am awaiting the delivery. The resto work is on hold now and until I have another opportunity to get back I will accumulate some more identified parts. I found a new servo and a rebuild kit for the old one. The rebuild kit was on eBay but I got out bid so I will just have to be satisfied with a new one. With out any expertise with the insides of the servo, I don't even know what parts would be in a rebuild kit but I did see a PIECE OF ROPE as one of the parts. I will have the old servo in hand when the new one comes in and I hope they are a match. My old servo hydrolic part is not the "bolt at the end of the cylinder" type. Hope the new one is like my old one. The air filter on the thing looks like an old American oil filler breather cap. I am totally unfamilure with this type of brake servo.
