Brake Rebuild Question

So, tonight I finished rebuilding the front calipers for Ms. Triss. All went well. I then opened the new pads and test fitted them. All of which leads to tonights questions

I ordered the VB rebuild kit FBK 200

In addition to the pads etc. there are

2 nuts and lock washers. Are these to use for the bolts attaching the caliper to the bracket?

2 larger copper washers and 2 thinner copper washers. what are these for?

2 rubber caps - I presume these are to cover the end of the bleeding nipples?

Also, in the caliper rebuild kit, there were two small rubber plug shaped things - what are these for?

TIA.

The rubber caps are for the bleeders. The copper washers go between the brake tube and the calipers.

Thanks - that makes sense.

Still wondering about the nuts/ lock washers

the rubber plug things (with the caliper rebuild) AND

I forgot to ask - the anti-squeal shims have cutouts that are not symetrical - do they go in a particular way? (ie. is there a front & back)

Thanks again

There are small bleeder screw covers that come in the caliper kits. They are pretty small but I haven't tried to use one. The nuts and washers might have something to do with the hoses at the point where they go through the fender well. I think they are bulkhead fittings there and you will need the nuts to hold the hose in place so you can attach the tubing from the brake warning thingy that I can't remember what its called at the moment. See John Loftus' recomendation regarding caliper rebuilds from my post about a week ago for more good info.

I'm not sure about the anti squeal shims. It didn't look like it made a difference on mine. I was unable to use them though as I didn't have enough clearance between the new rotor and the new pad on the outer section. I had to sand the pads a bit just to get them to fit without the shims.
