Brake problem

Hello again,
You guys solved my problem with my 72 MGB that was veering right when I accelerate.I tightened the U-bolts in the rear and it stopped the problem.Thanks.I have one other problem that is driving me nutty. When I brake, the car pulls to the right. After about one second,it straightens out and then stops in a straight line. This happens with light or heavy braking.
I have replaced pads and rotors in front including new rubber in the colipers(pistons seem ok). Also new brake shoes and rebled the lines.I could be wrong, but it feels it is the rear end.Thank for any suggestion. It sure is nice to get some more opinions. Thanks,Ben

Hi Ben,
One thought is your rear drums are not adjusted equally, so one engages before the other.

Sounds like a sticking front brake piston which is hesitating just enough to cause your veering to the right.

Once it engages "/a/fter about one second, it straightens out and then stops in a straight line."

First thing I would recommend, is to replace the rubber flexible brake hoses. Sounds like you've got a "flap" in one of them.

Just did replace lines w/stainless ones+ calipers on Porsche 911 Friday, had one side then the other was locking up,worked perfect after repairs. Genos2

Thanks guys,I replaced the flexible hoses today and the car stops straight and true.It is fun to drive again.I am so thankful there is a forum like this to give support.I had replaced the entire system ,including rotors, but it never dawned to chaned the hoses. Now I know. Thanks again,Ben

Hi all, thought I'd add a word of warning about new brake hoses.I've replaced several lately that were near or looked new. I was told that some suppliers are getting inferior parts & experiencing very high failure rate(blockage). I blow air through them before installing, just to be safe. cheers Genos2
