Brake Pressure Switch Wiring

The TR250 and maybe early TR6 has a single wire brake pressure warning switch, the later cars a two wire switch. My old switch leaks, looks like the only new replacements are two wire, which is what I got, is there a simple way to wire the new switch to the old car so it will work ar intended?

Thanks Greg

Just connect your single wire to either (or both) of the two pins. For both early and late switches, the pins are grounded through the body to indicate a fault.

BTW, there was probably nothing wrong with your old switch! It's not supposed to have brake fluid under it so it cannot leak (and is not sealed liquid tight). The problem is actually the seals on the shuttle within the valve, and unfortunately (last I heard) the early seals were not available. The solution is to convert to the later shuttle, which takes ordinary O-ring seals. See

Thanks Randall, didn't know that, I have acquired what I hope is a good newer body and switch, we will see how it works, if it is rebuildable maybe I should do that before I put it on, will check out the article.
