Brake Pads

Anyone have any opinions about organic or semi-metallic brake pads for a stock brake system on a 79 TR7? (And no they have not killed any body yet either).

Steve, since the 7 is a little weak on brakes I would go with semi-metalic pads and two brand new rotors. They are so cheap that turning them is a bad option that leaves them thin and prone to warpage.......(in my experience at least)

I would definitely agree on that. Semi-metallic will give you a much better stop on a stock system. I used to change shoes often on my 7 and found that the semi-metallic was much better.

try the EBC kevlar pads i have them on my 8 very little fade and great stoping power also the metal brake lines..

I also use kevlar pads on my TR7, and a set of cross drilled rotors. seemed to help. haven't upgraded to steel flexible hoses yet (soon).

I put semi-metallic pads on my -7 this past year, and they do seem to be better than the stock ones. Just be sure to get the shims and the silicone "brake grease" as I had one heck of a squealing problem at first.
