Brake Pad

Finally got started on the restore of the '69 Spit 6 in the garage. First order of business after bringing the engine to life is to make sure IF i get it to move down the road, i will be able to safely stop when i need to.

So, rebuilt calipers were secured from Rock Auto, and installed with new hoses attached. Because of my initial inspection, i did not order any brake pads. Upon re-assembly i find that my initial assessment was slightly off.

Turns out, that three of the four pistons in the two calipers were not functioning at all. Only one piston remained as the only active front stop! Previous owner was clueless to this.

I now have three perfectly acceptable...for several years...brake pads, and one desperately needing replacement.

Does anyone have a brake pad, one single used brake pad that they could spare? I will eventually put a brand new set in, but until then, I would love to move on to a different area of restoration. My budget is lean this time of year, and i could use a small favor.

Thanks in advance...

Mike, are you running the Spit calipers, or have they been changed to GT6?
I may have some pads, but need to know which setup you're running.

Jeff,

Stock Spit brakes are on the vehicle. Thanks! If you can help, send me an email with the particulars.

I guess my first clue to the issue should have been three rusty sides to the rotors, and one shiny rotor side.

The best thing about a project car is that you don't have to finish any task at any certain point in time. However, that also makes for a very long time between cruises.

I'll take a look today, Mike. I've got to go on a parts mission to the storage facility, so one more item to grab is no big deal!
I'll let you know later today.
Jeff

Yes Jeff. Thanks. End of year and all. The Spitfire suffers from lack of attention like a red-headed step child.

But, that will all change now that we've settled down from the holidays.

I apologize for not responding sooner.
