after an embaresing amount of effort to get the rear flex line off...I finally goterdone. I remembered to put the brass washer back on the new line and about to attatch the other end that goes through the bracket W/slide clip. Just curiouse. what purpose does that clip serve? Also is there any tricks to removing the two front flex lines ? Which end should I undue first? The end at the calliper or the one that goes to the hard line?

The clip is intended to keep the (fitting on the ) rubber flex line from rotating as you tighten the tube fitting into it.
You don't want to introduce a twist in the flex line as you tighten the fittings together.
At the front, it makes little difference; you're faced with a messy situation either way!
