Brake Lines

Hello

I am installing new brake lines on the rear axle of my TR4. There are two clips which go around the axle to keep the brake lines in place. On my car these were just outise the rubber bump stops. Can someone tell me of this is the correct place or whether they should be further towards the diff? I seem to remember that when I had the rear axle rebuilt on my TR3A that thay were located further inboard...

Thanks for your help.

Myles

I can't answer the question, but the important part is that they hold the brake lines where they cannot possibly get pinched between the axle and the check straps or between the axle and the frame.

Aloha Myles,

I just took a look at the rear axle on my TR3A. There are three clips on the brake lines, one on the short line and two on the longer line. On the longer line, there is one on the axle tube near the differential hump and the other inboard of the rebound ribber and chassis. The one on the short line is also inboard of the rebound rubber. As Randall points out, make sure the lines are clear of spring travel and check straps. The connection to the rear wheel brake cylinder holds that end of the brake line in place.
