TR2/3/3A Brake Line

I am in the fnal stages of restoring a 54 TR-2 Long Door. While starting to bleed the brake system, I discovered that the line from the master cylinder to the left wheel Banjo Fitting had a crack in the lower nut.. I ordered a new 37" line from the Roadster Factory and attempted to install it. I discovered that the fittings on this line have different thread patterns. The top fitting went into the master cylinder fine, but the bottom one didn't; different thread pattern.
Call to Roadster Factory said that line is not available, because of the different thread patterns.
Solution?? Cut the good fitting off the old line, cut the flare off the new line, install the good, old fitting and attempt to flare that new line. There is no way my flare tool is going to make a flare like the one that came on it. Can you use copper for a brake line? Will the DOT 5 react with it?

Any new suggestions from you experts?

Don't use copper for a brake line. It's just not strong enough. Use only DOT approved materials.

If you need something more flexible, you can use Cunifer lines, https://cunifer.com/ . That said, I've had trouble flaring the Cunifer lines with a simple flaring tool; even my high-end tool often doesn't do it perfectly. Maybe you just need a friend with a better flaring tool...!

Steve,

Thanks for your help. I called Fedhill and ordered a 6' piece of 3/16" Cunifer line and two P-30-3 3/8" x 20 bsf male fittings , one for the bottom location.

Dick if you have a brake repair shop close by just take the new pipe and old fitting to them and ask them to make the proper flare for you.
