Good day all,

Just an opinion needed. I am restoring my A to as close to Concourse as possible.... Ergo, original brake lines were either brass (?) or copper (?). My preference is steel tubing... What have you guys done and how many points will I be hit with if I use the steel tubing?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I thought they were steel on the A's. I'd say take yer lumps and go with steel anyway, if for nothing but safety's sake.

Gentlemen.... I concur.... steel it is, and not the stainless type...

By the way... Is the tubing set offered by Moss (wow $$$)copper plated??? I have a few odds and ends pieces that are a copper color...
 
jlaird.... Wow, nice site. I have my own bender and flairing jig so the cost will be less for me if I buy the tubing in bulk...

Of course, if you can do it your self you can save some bucks for something else. Remember it takes the old fittings.

I've always used Bundy pipe and bent/flaired my own. Lots cheaper and usually I'm fussier than the li'l Tiawanese cottage industry fingers are. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Nice! Stainless exhaust tubing, custom bent... THAT has my attention! The Bundy pipe I'll stay with my bends: $$$ saved and ALMOST enuff for stainless exhaust for the ELAN!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif
 
Smeartarse! I've actually UNCOVERED it! The MG is turned around in the drive (UNDER ITS OWN POWER!) and all's well with the world! The Elan is about to see daylight. ~GASP!~

It's apparently my purpose in life to be the Perfect Example of a bad example. The Elan ain't purty...

...and Carroll Smith is hardly one I'd call "out of date" there, Keoke. "Prepare to Win" and "Tune to Win" are TIMELESS. And oddly enough I purchased some STEEL Bundy just last week. Mebbe it was just NOS...
 
Nuts & Bolts was copywriten 1990.......

The MGA 1500 is about 30 years before that.

I generally don't consider any car stuff "new and improved" until it is a couple of decades tried & tested.

(House building materials have to pass the 100-150 year test.)
(And electronics about 6 months.)
