Brake Light Switch

Well it's happened again (two years in a row). After coming out of winter hibernation, my brake light switch is stuck in the lights OFF position. Last year I was able to loosen it up with a screwdriver and some WD40 - not so lucky this year.

When I backed out the switch, it hits the fender and I can't remove the switch. What's the trick/method to removing the switch from the pedal box?

Requires loosening the pedal box and lifting it about 1/2inch.
